It might sound pretentious, but as I was growing up, we spared a day in December to forget about school (and for my mum to forget about work) to spend it in Vienna. And it wasn’t just for the huge Christmas Market in the middle of Vienna. It wasn’t just for the usual sights – Schönbrunn, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Museum Quarter, etc. It was for the road trip, the stunning architecture of the Inner City, and the beautiful lights that amazed me every year.
So I suppose I just love Vienna.
It’s the one place that I would want to visit in the winter and enjoy Christmas the way it should be enjoyed: bitterly cold at times, with a hot drink in your hand, under the most extravagant Christmas lights.
Happy Holidays, and careful with your hot drinks.
